A few minutes later they had all the people in a line to be put into the trucks. Once he stopped spitting out what was going to happen to them, and what the quarantined area was about, the back of one of the trucks opened. Eight men came out fully kitted out in black tactical gear. All of the men women and children stood frozen not knowing was happening. The megaphone cracked and the man yelled “Ok everyone calm down!” There was a long pause that seemed to last hours and he yelled out "As a direct order from the Department of Homeland Security, you all are deemed infected." One man in the crowd yelled, "what hell does that mean?" The man put the megaphone in the Humvee and pulled out a water bottle. He took a long drink of water, coughed,and yelled, "well it means, huh, FIRE!" The men opened up on all the men women and children with lead ripping through them like butter. The scene before my eyes was horrific. The bodies were in piles. I heard one of the men yell towards the man that made the call. "Colonel Anderson should be burn the bodies?" The Colonel walked over to the bodies and took his boot and poked it at a boy on the ground. The next thing I knew there was a loud shot and the colonel dropped in a pool of blood. There was a loud yell "God Bless America!" The man on the humvee gun swung the turret around and opened fire on the second story of the house the shot came from. It was Derrel's place he lived a few houses down from me. He was the only sensible guy, on the whole block that I could talk to. After all of the gun control, and confiscation talk around the country I started going to the range to work on my shooting skills. I met Derrel there and I knew he only lived a few houses down. He had the same mindset as I did so we became good friends. I just hoped he was okay.

After they used up what ammo they had on the house the men got in there trucks and left with a honk of the horn. The girl from earlier that morning ran out to the pile of bodies, grabbed a small child and took a bite out of the neck of the lifeless child. I threw up a little in my mouth and fell to the ground listening to what I figured to be more of those things running out to the mass of bodies like it was a free buffet. I layed on the floor staying silent thinking about all I had seen since I had awakened an hour ago. I closed my eyes for a few minutes and just listened.

A New World Part One

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in a deep sleep. Suddenly, there was a loud pounding on my window. So I got up to see what all of the noise was about. I reached for my watch, it glowed 4:36 a.m. I got out of bed and flicked on the light switch, but there was no light. “Oh the power is out,” I said. So I walked down the hallway, and made my way through the living room to the back sliding glass door. It was a full moon out and the light shown through the glass. Bang! I heard the noise again so I look up. There was a girl standing there but you couldn't see her face. She was slender and you could only see the moon light gleaming off of her hair. I built up the courage and opened the door. She made a small whimpering sound, but she did not move like she was frozen. I went to say something when I heard a blood curdling scream that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I turned back to the women but she was gone, so I slammed the door shut.

   I sat down to take in what had just happened in the last few minutes. I sat there thinking about the scream I had heard when the lights flickered on. I ran over to the TV and turned it on and turned it to cnn. The presidents face was on the screen and he was saying "This is a national emergency. We have been attacked by biological attack from the North Koreans. We urge all citizens to stay inside and lock all doors and windows. Your local FEMA and Red Cross will set up relief centers in your area. As of now we know the infection is spread scratches and bites. We will update you when we know more." I watched the transmission three or so times before it really sank in that this is a serious deal. I had been worried about this for the past month because of tension between the US and North Korea escalated dramatically. North Korea found out through Edward Snowden that the president was using the NSA to spy on the movements of Korean nuclear missiles. North Korea threatened the United States with launching a nuclear missile at one or more major US cities. They tried a few days before but failed because they couldn’t get enough propulsion to get a rocket across the Pacific Ocean. It seems now they have hit their mark.

My heart stopped for a moment as I struggled to grasp the situation at hand. I made some coffee and had some toast to calm myself down. The sun was now coming up into the sky. I took out my cell phone to try and call my parents to see if they were okay but there was no service. So I just prayed that they stuck to the plan we had in place in case of any disaster. I started packing a bag when I heard what sounded like multiple large vehicles outside. I ran to the window and could see three trucks with FEMA on the side. One truck was a humvee with a large gun on the top and the other two where troop carriers. I had a bad feeling in my gut about those trucks. Something just didn’t feel right about the situation. The back drivers side door opened and a large man stepped out.

The guy looked like your stereotypical war hardened marine with a very straight and muscular build. He grabbed a megaphone and yelled “We are FEMA we are here to help you, and take you to a quarantined secure area. We are here to help, and have lots of room at the quarantined safe area." I saw people in the neighborhood flock out of there homes. I saw my neighbors running out to the trucks. I could see the looks of confusion on their faces. I wanted to yell out and tell them not to listen to the man with the megaphone since I had a feeling something was going to happen. This was not going to turn out good at all.

Guns for the Apocalypse

I have heard this question over, and over, when it comes to the zombie apocalypse. What is the best weapon to have, in the zombie apocalypse? Well my answer is, always it's whatever you have with you. Now if you are looking to get a firearm for the, "apocalypse" here are 5 great choices.

1. Mosin Nagant

The Mosin Nagant is a bolt action, internal magazine fed, military rifle. The rifle was created by Sergei Ivanovich Mosin and Leon Nagant in 1891 with Russia's need of a more modern rifle. The Mosin Nagant shoots a 7.62x54R. With the standard iron sights the mosin is good up to 550 yards and with optics it can be 800+ yards. These guns go from $200 to $300 dollars and you can still get the ammo cheap. So overall this is a great longer range rifle for shooting zeds.

2. AR-15

The AR-15 was designed by Eugene Stoner, Jim Sullivan, and Bob Fremont in 1957. Colt released the Colt Ar-15 in 1963 for civilian purchase. The AR-15 most commonly shoots the 5.56mm round or the .223mm round. These Rifles range from $600+ and the ammunition is still readily available at a good price. This rifle has an effective range of 400 to 600 yards. Overall the AR-15 is a fantastic zombie killing rifle, with easy to find ammunition, and different variants to fit your style. 

3. Glock 17

The Glock 17 was designed in 1979-1982 by Gaston Glock. The Glock 17 is the original of the company's handguns. The glock 17 shoots a 9mm round with an effective range of 55 yards. The glock 17 has a price point of $500 to $600 and 9mm ammunition is widely available and still at a great price. If you need a pistol that is easy to use and put down a zombie I would recommend the Glock 17.

4. Remington 870

The Remington model 870 was created in 1951 by L.Ray Crittendon, Phillip Haskell, Ellis Hailston, G.E. Pinckneyand. The model 870 currently holds the title for the best selling shotgun. This shotgun goes for $300+ and the ammunition for shotguns is very inexpensive. The Remington is a great close range zombie killing machine that will stop them in there tracks.

5. M249 (LMG)

This gun is far from the above firearms. I put this on the list as potential guns for the apocalypse because you never know you could find one of these at a military installation. The M249 is a light machine gun that shoots a 5.56x45mm NATO round. The M249 has a rapid rate of fire of 200 rounds per minute with a range of up to 3,000 yards maximum. Overall if you got your hands on this bad boy you could do some serious damage to a horde.

22 Simple rules to survive the zombie apocalypse!

22 Rules to the zombie apocalypse!

1- You are not safe. EVER.

2- Cardio- Be able to run for an extended period of time
.
3- Always carry a minimum of 2 reliable, lethal weapons (I can not stress "ALWAYS" enough)

4- Better safe than stupid (example- use your head; cut off theirs!)

5- Know where you will be sleeping before the sun sets. Be prepared to move out before daybreak.

6- Travel light- No dead weight (this goes for both objects you carry and people you're with. If someone can't pull their own, ditch them)

7- Save one bullet (do I need to elaborate?)

8- Dress smart (Tight-fitting, comfortable clothing, with large, accessible pockets, and preferably velcro-sneakers)

9- Do(n't) be a hero

10- Only pull the trigger if you're ok with every ghoul within hearing-distance knowing exactly where dinner is.

11- Stay nourished and healthy (if you're living off canned food, make sure to take multi-vitamins! And remember, if you get sick, there's no hospital to treat you)(and remember, always use a condom! You really don't want herpes during a zombie apocalypse)

12- Drive safe! (And by that of course I mean drive in a hummer or a large SUV with bars welded to all the windows, and if possible an escape hatch in the roof)

13- If you can avoid it, then do.

14- Never, ever, ever, under any circumstances shall you EVER go anywhere alone (yes, this includes the bathroom)(void if everyone you've ever known/loved is a zombie)

15- Enjoy the little things.

16- Your mind is your most powerful weapon. Think, preferably outside the box (ex- need meds but the hospitals are all filled with Zack? Go to the vet/a pet store!)

17- Leave no doubt- know your way out!

18- Know your environment, use it to your advantage.

19- Tread carefully (watch where you're going and NEVER walk backwards)

20- never give up

21- Calculus (Example- it takes you .75 seconds to hit a zombie in the head with a baseball bat and then prepare to strike again. If a zombie is withing 3 feet of you you can't wind up for a successful kiss-swing. It takes a zombie 3 seconds to walk 2 feet. The situation: you have 5 zombies walking towards you. Before you even prepare your first strike, look at the distance between each of them and determine if it will be possible for one of them to get within 3 feet of you while you dispatch the others. Plan out your kill order and know when you're going to need to back up (but remember rule 19!))

22- 1 shot, 1 kill (slow is smooth, smooth is fast)
